Backflow Preventer Installation & Replacement
The right backflow assembly for your hazard level, installed, tested, and filed.

Backflow preventers keep water from irrigation systems, boilers, fire sprinkler lines, and commercial equipment from flowing back into the public drinking water supply. The device you need depends on the hazard. A reduced pressure zone (RPZ) assembly is used where backflow could introduce contaminants that pose a health risk, such as chemical injection, boilers with treatment additives, and many commercial connections. A double check valve assembly is used for lower-hazard connections, such as many fire sprinkler systems. Pressure vacuum breakers are common on lawn irrigation.
On Our Way Plumbing installs and replaces all of these assemblies across Greater Cleveland. We confirm the required device with your water purveyor, size it to the line without creating an unnecessary pressure loss, and install it in an accessible location with the clearances needed for testing and repair. RPZ assemblies need a properly sized air gap drain because the relief valve can discharge water, and they cannot be installed in a pit where they could be submerged. Outdoor devices need freeze protection or seasonal draining.
Every new assembly is tested by a certified tester right after installation, and we file the results with the water purveyor. Call On Our Way Plumbing at 216-677-2707 for backflow preventer installation in Cleveland and Greater Cleveland. Permitted work, free quotes, and a workmanship warranty.

Backflow Preventer Installation & Replacement FAQ
Common questions about our backflow preventer installation & replacement service.
Both have two check valves, but an RPZ adds a relief valve between them that discharges water if the checks fail, giving higher protection. RPZs are required for higher-hazard connections; double checks are allowed for lower-hazard ones.
Intermittent discharge can come from pressure fluctuations, but steady dripping usually means a fouled check valve or worn relief valve seat. It needs a repair and retest.
Every assembly creates some pressure loss. Proper sizing keeps that loss within an acceptable range. If pressure dropped noticeably after an install, the device may be undersized or need service.
