216-677-2707Generator Gas Piping in Mentor, OH
A properly sized gas supply so your standby generator runs at full output when the power goes out.
A standby generator is only as reliable as the gas line feeding it. Generators draw a large volume of gas at full load, and an undersized line, a long run, or a meter that cannot keep up can cause the unit to stall, hunt, or fail to carry the house when you need it most. On Our Way Plumbing installs dedicated natural gas and propane supply lines for residential and light commercial standby generators across Greater Cleveland.
We size the line using the generator manufacturer's published gas consumption at full load, the minimum inlet pressure the unit requires, the total length of the run, and every other appliance already on the system. If the existing meter or regulator cannot supply the combined load, we let you know up front so you can coordinate an upgrade with your gas utility. Installs include a dedicated shutoff, a sediment trap, an approved flexible connector at the unit, and buried polyethylene or above-ground steel or CSST as the route requires.
We work alongside your electrician or generator dealer, or coordinate the gas side of a complete installation. Every line is pressure tested and inspected where required before the generator is started. Call On Our Way Plumbing at 216-677-2707 for generator gas piping in Mentor and Greater Cleveland. Free quotes and a workmanship warranty.

Generator Gas Piping in Mentor — FAQ
Sometimes, but often not. Generators draw a large volume of gas, and connecting to a small existing branch can starve the generator or your other appliances. We calculate the load and usually recommend a dedicated line from the meter.
It depends on the meter's capacity and your total connected load. If the combined demand exceeds what the meter can deliver, the gas utility will need to upgrade it. We identify that before installation so there are no surprises.
We handle the gas piping. The electrical connection and transfer switch are done by a licensed electrician or your generator dealer, and we coordinate scheduling with them.
